Greenway
Greenway
The company launched a R&D initiative in 2009 in the field of CSP towers through its affiliate Greenway Güneş Sistemleri Enerji Üretim Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş. The project is underpinned by fully domestic capital and engineers. Assisted by TUBITAK and TTGV, the R&D project was finalized in late June, 2013. This so-called “concentrated solar power tower” technology is novel and competitive in the market. This technology relies upon the principle of reflecting solar rays via “Heliostat” mirrors to the heat boiler on the tower to generate superheated steam. Then, this steam is employed by a steam turbine for a set of functions including power generation as well as seawater treatment, heating and cooling. The availability to make a hybrid design involving natural gas and coal plants will make a new breakthrough in the world of thermal power plants.
A CSP tower system is one of the most efficient methods used to convert solar energy into electricity.
- This green, low-maintenance system capable of generating power for a long term only uses solar energy and water as its inputs.
- The system has hundreds of mirrors (heliostat) reflecting the solar energy to the receiver on the tower.
- Thanks to these highly-reflective special mirrors, solar rays are concentrated at a single point on the tower to achieve high temperatures.
- A tower system is one of the most efficient CSP technologies where solar energy is utilized to distil water, and generate steam and electricity.
All hardware and software components in the system were designed by Greenway.
- 510 heliostat mirrors capable of highly concentrating solar rays
- 50-m high tower
- 4 MWTh of thermal energy generated.
